Light, Golden & Easy – Using Premium Frozen Squid Rings

No mess, no prep stress ,  just quick, reliable, high-quality squid that delivers every time. Perfect for busy nights, spontaneous dinners, or when you just want something a little special without too much effort.

🛒 Ingredients:

  • 250g frozen squid rings (defrosted & pat-dried)

  • 1/2 cup plain flour

  • 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • Pinch of black pepper

  • 1 egg (beaten)

  • Cooking oil for frying (vegetable or sunflower oil)

  • Lemon wedges (for serving)

  • Optional dipping sauces: spicy mayo, tartar sauce, sweet chili, etc.

🍳 Instructions:

  1. Prep the squid
Defrost the frozen squid rings and gently pat dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
  2. Make the coating
In a bowl, mix plain flour, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. In a separate bowl, beat the egg.
  3. Coat the rings
Dip each squid ring into the egg, then toss in the flour mixture until fully coated. Shake off excess.
  4. Heat the oil
In a deep pan or pot, heat oil to around 170–180°C (340–355°F). Test with a small piece , it should bubble gently.
  5. Fry in batches
Carefully lower squid rings into the hot oil in small batches. Fry for 2–3 minutes or until golden and crispy.
  6. Drain & serve
Remove and drain on a wire rack or kitchen paper. Serve immediately with lemon wedges and your favorite dip!

💡 Extra Tips:

  • Don’t overcrowd the pan , it lowers the oil temperature and makes the calamari soggy.

  • Want extra flair? Sprinkle with paprika or parsley before serving.

  • Works great as part of a tapas night, side dish, or sharing platter.
